Protecting Your Skin From The Sun

Protecting Your Skin From The Sun

Protecting your skin is the single best strategy for younger, healthier skin. It is primarily sun damage that ages the skin. Over exposure to the sun creates wrinkles and age spots along with other aging skin issues.

I used to slather myself with baby oil, prop up a piece of tin foil to focus the rays of the sun on my face so I would look beautifully tan for as many months of the year as possible.

What a mistake!

If I had to do it all over again I would still enjoy the sun but I would take all the precautions possible to protect my skin.

I've already had a biopsy, (on the tip of my nose of all places), and now have to use a skin cancer cream on several areas on my face. Not a pretty sight I can tell you. The cream is supposed to kill pre-cancerous cells. In the process it makes the areas that it is applied to raw, red, oozy and downright gross.

Protecting your skin through your entire life with sunscreens and/or sun blocks will save it from developing problems later on.

It will also help to keep your skin healthier and looking younger!

Protecting Your Skin in the Winter
by: Taji

The winter months can be just terrible for dry, sensitive skin types like mine. It is important to protect your skin from the elements- especially the wind.

I try to use moisturizers several times a day; I also mist my skin frequently to keep it hydrated which seems to help a lot.

I also us Vaseline to protect my lips and any dry spots that I might see emerging on my face. When I do this I find that I don't develop eczema as often.

I also always wear a scarf to protect the lower part of my face.

I give myself a facial steam a few times a week as well. It helps to give the skin moisture. After the steam I just lightly pat dry and use a rich emollient moisturizer to seal and hydrate.

All these strategies combined will really work to protect your skin in the winter.
