Cucumber Facial Mask Recipes are a Great Anti-Aging Treatment

Cucumber Facial Mask Recipes are a Great Anti-Aging Treatment

There are literally a bazillion cucumber facial mask recipes that will revitalize the skin by infusing it with nutrients and antioxidants.

Do you know that cucumbers are a rich source of vitamin C, K, and beta-carotene as well as a host of other nutrients?

Cucumbers also have documented anti-inflammatory properties. That means that the antioxidants in cucumbers are a great way to combat skin damaging free radical activity which cause wrinkles, age spots and sun damage, as well as reduce those puffy dark under eye circles with the power of their natural source of vitamin K.

"A May 2011 issue of the "Archives of Dermatological Research" published a study concluding that the presence of silica, a precursor to collagen along with ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, makes cucumber juice a particular effective ingredient in anti-wrinkle products."

The easiest way to get started making rejuvenating cucumber facial mask recipes is to roughly chop a cucumber and process it into a pulp using a blender or food processor. (You can freeze the cucumber mixture in an ice cube tray for future use!)

Now you have the base for tons of natural rejuvenating skin care recipes.

Some simple, quick recipes are:

  • Whip one egg white with a fork or whisk. Add a few tablespoons of the cucumber pulp and apply for 15 minutes or so. If you have oily and/or acne prone skin, add a squeeze of lemon juice to the mixture. Sensitive or dry skin types can add a tablespoon or so of unrefined coconut oil.

  • To 1/4 cup of the cucumber pulp dissolve several plain (generic) aspirin, a tablespoon of grated potato, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

  • When pressed for time, simply strain some of the juice from the pulp of the ground-up cucumber and simply add it to your usual facial cream to bump-up the rejuvenating properties.

  • For a quick toner, simply strain the juice from the cucumber pulp (save the pulp though for other recipes!) and use a cotton ball to apply to your face and neck.

Get creative!

Don't be afraid to experiment with different natural anti-aging skin care recipes and ingredients based upon your skin type and aging skin issues. It's really easy and, the best part, it is really cheap and effective.

I'll come back and post some more cucumber facial mask recipes soon so stay posted! I think cucumbers are really one of the very best natural anti-aging treatments on the planet!
