Beauty and the Beach

Are you a glistening bronzed beauty or the hidden beauty lounging under the beach umbrella?

Sunscreen and Sunblock 1
Summer skin care evokes visions of beach beauties radiating gorgeous glistening bronzed skin, the "perfect" tan.

But wait!

Think about summer skin care for a moment then stop and ask yourself, "Who is the real Beauty on the Beach?"

Is it the radiantly bronzed Beauty or is it the hidden Beauty lounging under the beach umbrella, slathered in sunscreen from head to toe sporting large dark sunglasses, a wide brimmed hat, and a full length beach cover-up?

You know the answer to that one already, don't you?

In the heat of that moment of summer sun it appears that the deeply bronzed beach Beauty is clearly winner doesn't it?

Not a chance!

It's really the hidden Beauty enjoying all the wonder that the beach offers without surrendering her skin to the onslaught of aging UV rays. Summer skin care is silently working wonders for her skin!

Over time, the beautiful bronzed Beauty will gradually develop hyper pigmentation, age spots, wrinkles and tough leathery skin while the hidden Beauty's skin will continue to radiate the essence of youth.

Why? Because she is protecting her skin from sun damage!

Skin rejuvenation is the most successful if you start early (like from the day you are born!) and do everything possible to protect your skin from sun damage. Yes, that means that you will need to be the hidden beauty slathered in sunscreen under the big beach umbrella!

One of Beauty's most destructive foes is the sun.

Did you know that nearly 90% of all signs of aging skin is a direct result of sun damage? And it's all preventable!

Think of it this way. . .

Have you ever left a piece of fruit in the sun only to discover later that it has become totally dehydrated, shrunken, leathery, wrinkled and completely covered in ugly brown and black spots? That is exactly what happens to your skin over time.

Sun damage is cumulative over the course of your life which means that gradually, year after year, sun damage continues to accrue.

So start early, start young, and throughout your life make a commitment to consistently practice summer skin care strategies:
  • Prevent damaging skin cells from over-exposure to the sun
  • Protect the skin from UV radiation and environmental distress with sunscreen
  • Maintain hydration, inside and out to preserve moisture content
  • Renew cell growth by shedding the old and stimulating the new with regular exfoliation

A comprehensive anti-aging skin care regimen will help you fight back and preserve the look of ageless beauty. . .

The Way We Were

Time shows no mercy to those who are carefree with their skin care.

Sun damage is cumulative and ever so slowly begins to reveal itself in fine lines around the eyes and mouth, laugh lines deepen into wrinkles and age spots begin to sprout with increasing frequency.

Ah, to be the way we were a decade or two ago.

How do you begin to recapture that soft, subtle, youthful appearing skin?

Begin by establishing a step-by-step skin care regimen that utilizes a serious skin care layering technique to begin treating the damage caused by years of sun and environmental factors.

Here are a few great resources that will show you how:

And be sure to. . .

Protect your skin from the sun!

Take Your Skin on a Rejuvenating Tropical Vacation!

Give yourself a simple 10 minute facial vacation to renew yourself and your skin with this luscious natural skin care recipe.

The emollient properties in this recipe will soften even the most leathery, dry skin and the healing attributes will provide the skin with a much needed nutritional boost.

It's really a lovely summer facial treat!

Simmer together gently in a small saucepan over medium to low heat:

  • 1/4 cup organic coconut milk
  • Juice of one lime
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed first with a drizzle of the coconut milk (to prevent lumps)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Whisk occasionally while simmering until the mixture turns thick and creamy. (You can add a little more cornstarch if you prefer a thicker facial mixture.)

Gently massage into the skin, rinse well with warm water after 15 minutes.

The "ANSR" to DIY Facial Laser Rejuvenation

It's called the Beam. . .

Happily, technology is making advances in all aspects of DIY facial rejuvenation options.

The newest "ANSR" is a phototherapy laser that includes both the blue and the red light wave spectrums into one little powerhouse of a DIY facial laser unit.

Having used both the Dermawand as well as the Baby Quasar to keep a step ahead of my chronic rosacea, what I found fascinating was just how revealing the comparison chart is of all five of the most popular home laser devises that is prominently displayed on the ANSR website. (And rightly so, I might add).

Makes you have some second thoughts about which phototherapy device to choose doesn't it?

True Grit ~ The Micropeel Cloth

This is a quick, easy and very cheap way to give your skin a deep exfoliation treatment!

A micropeel dermabrasion face cloth packs a mighty rejuvenating punch. If you don’t like the grittiness of microdermabrasion scrubs, then the micropeel cloth is a wonderful alternative.

True, there is no "grit" to this cloth but it does provide an excellent exfoliation treatment and they last for a very long time.

Caution!

Follow the instructions very, very carefully. These special micropeel cloths should come with a warning label because you can easily overdo it. . .

The first time I used the micropeel cloth I was a little overly enthusiastic and literally rubbed my skin red and raw. Lesson learned, (yet again), that more is not necessarily better!

Next Month. . .

, The August Newsletter will address those darn inferno Hot Flashes and the Best Skin Care Strategies for Menopausal Skin so don't miss it!

Have a beauty filled day!

Until next month. . .

Skinsationally Yours,

Sue
